British fans take note - don’t boo the national anthem. Especially when your fighter is completely overmatched.

Take note British fans - this is what happens when you disrespect the US and boo our national anthem.

After a less than superb undercard Saturday night, featuring two 120 pounders lacking the punching power to knock down my 5 foot nothing sister, and a sleeper between head butt extraordinare Peter Manfredo Jr and Jeff “surgically repaired lefthook” Lacy, I was excited to see the highly anticipated bout between Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather. English fans filled the MGM with endless chants of “There’s only one Ricky Hatton” hoping that the their fighter just might be able to dethrown the best pound for pound fighter of our generation.

Following a disrespectful booing of the US national anthem, Ricky Hatton finally got his. Turns out there is only one Ricky Hatton, and that one Ricky Hatton got his ass handed to him. After ten rounds of weathering Hatton’s ineffective offense without so much as a scratch, Mayweather made his move. A series of left and right hooks, and a classic face first dive into the turnbuckle that seemed straight out of professional wrestling, and it was done. Referee Joe Cortez stopped the fight, putting the over matched Hatton out of his misery.

Saturday’s fight is the latest in a line of impressive victories for Mayweather, who proves each time he steps into the ring why he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world. If he were to never fight again, he would certainly go down as one of the all time greats.
